PROBLEMS

All problems can be solved.

Problems Are Systems

leave a comment »

In working to solve problems, people overlook the interconnectedness of problems/issues.

They go strictly for direct solutions; forgetting about other situations having an affect on the problem.

Working directly on the problem itself, they ignore possible changes/improvements that would seem unrelated.

Bigger problems means more complex interactions.

Life is not simple.

Neither is problem solving.

Problems — Actions — Who?

leave a comment »

Even if the solution to a problem is known, who can implement the solution?

–  The individual for his own issues

–  A group for bigger issues affecting many individuals

– Multi-group action is needed for complex issues facing much of society

Generally, bigger more complex problems require more people to implement the solution.

With larger problems, there is the need for organization; group(s) must be formed.

Organizing groups is a separate challenge:

–  who is in charge

–  what exactly is the goal

–  what determines the goal is achieved

–  dissolving the group

Multi-group action requires more organization and the above challenges become issues in themselves.

In addition to finding a solution to a problem, who can implement the solution must be determined.

Only then can the solution be implemented.

Mass Delusions

leave a comment »

Mass Delusion:  when a large number of people believe something that is not true/reality.

They will conveniently ignore evidence that they find inconvenient.

Mass delusions are everywhere.

These people are STUPID.

They live in a dream world; always expecting a magic fairy to solve everything.

Since so many people believe in these false realities, it is hard to dispel the delusions.

This makes it very difficult to solve problems or resolve issues.

These people are a big part of any problem.

They are no different than an enemy you are fighting.

PROBLEM — Government

leave a comment »

Most people have confidence in the government; at least they act like it.

They believe government

–  knows best

–  is necessary

–  is good

They may complain the results of the political process but are acceptable with it.

Others just ignore government and the political process as much as possible.

Then there are those who think government/politicians are both corrupt and incompetent; that most of the time government is wrong about what it does and advises.

The problem:  what is the truth/reality of government?

Good or evil?

Competent or total failure?

Knowledgeable and wise or dumber than dirt?

COMPETITION

leave a comment »

The world is a competitive place.

Every living thing in the world must compete or lose out.

Trees in the forest compete for water; wild animals compete for food; crops in the field compete for nutrients in the soil; livestock competes for grazing; even man must compete.

No, no say a bunch of fools.

Yes, man must compete and does so everyday.

Accept it.

The problems are:

–  identify who you compete against and for what

–  identify who may be an ally or provide assistance

–  identify who you can win against

–  learn how to compete

Everything in life is competitive; from grades in school, your future spouse, your job and everything else.

10 Critical Imperatives Facing U.S. Cities

leave a comment »

The National League of Cities (NLC) today a report that identifies “The 10 Critical Imperatives Facing America’s Cities”.

The National League of Cities, representing cities and local leaders, leveraged guidance from city leaders across the nation to identify the 10 imperatives:

1)  Fragile Fiscal Health  —  Budget

2)  Deteriorating Transportation Infrastructure

3)  Shrinking Middle Class

4)  Inadequate Access to Higher Education

5)  Need for Affordable Housing

6)  Less-Than-Welcoming Return for Veterans

7)  Gang Violence

8)  Broken Immigration System

9)  Climate Change and Extreme Weather

10)  Lack of Public Trust in Government

Their solutions to these issues is simple:  raise taxes and spend more money.

They do not exactly say this, but they want to add and expand programs for everything.

These are the same programs that have not worked in the past and will not work in the future.

How has anything changed?

Government(the politicians) believe the answer to  any and all problems is to spend more money on it.

Trouble is, this never works, so they get to spend even more money.  And the cycle repeats over and over again.

No problems are solved.

Government gets bigger.

Politicians get richer and more powerful.

Just spending money on a problem is NEVER the answer/solution.

Intelligence guided by history will solve problems.

Refusing To Change

leave a comment »

Human beings are incredibly resistant to change.

Inertia is extremely powerful. Regardless of their situation, people eventually become accustomed to it and no one wants to rock the boat too much.

People only accept change when they are faced with necessity, and only recognize necessity when a crisis is upon them.”
But Isaac Newton told us that when force greater enough to overcome inertia is applied, the inevitable result is—change.

When people reach their breaking point, they demand things to change.

Three rules for change:

–  Change for sake of change is stupid.

–  Without change, there can be no improvement.

–  No problem will solved without change.

Refuse to change and things will not improve.
